As with most institutionalised buildings in the UK, school buildings are subjected to little or no maintenance. They are often cold, draughty and pretty miserable places – or is that just how we remember them? But seriously, regardless of whether the schools are listed buildings or just in need of renovation, improvements in energy efficiency and modernisation of schools is still high on the government agenda.
